PROJECT AIMS:
- 2D animation with illusion of 3D and depth
- Completed Film by the end of the project
RULES AND PROCEDURES FOLLOWED TO STICK TO MY PROJECT AIMS:
- Stick to a tight Schedule
- Avoid unnecessary distractions (aiming too high, unnecessary experiments, laziness)
- Stick to 2D animation, since 3D animation takes longer than the project time to do successfully
- Focus on pumping out animation
- Minimize pre-production time and focus on production
PROJECT SUCCESSES:
- Managed to finish the animation
- AIMS were achieved to a good degree.
PROJECT FAILURES:
- Failed to follow schedule word for word, perhaps the schedule was unrealistic to begin with in terms of the time scale and how long animation was going to take
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Better time management
- Learned that animation takes a while and that I hate tablet

Yeah, just in time. This first version is what I was able to hand in for submission after ages of animation! Apart from the sound and music I think it’s pretty much complete… might do a couple tweaks here and there maybe, but it’s DONE!

The film is almost complete. Just one scene to put together and it’ll be done. Unfortunately I won’t shoe-horn music or sounds, because it’s impossible to do anything of good quality for Friday (I didn’t think to schedule in audio production). But I think the film manages to “communicate visually” from the feedback I got from my fellow students.
I’ll keep working on it after the deadline and finish it properly. Besides, I still want more trees, crashing computers won’t stop me… and yes even the bad-boy uni Mac Pro’s have struggled with the sheer amount of pine on this film!
Ant Swarm Test

Almost forgot about these guys… anywho, here’s a test using a couple of filters to get a swarm-like noise on existing animation.

Like the heading says, the original animation loop looked pretty still and weird. Adding a bit of random direction key frames and whatnot improved it immensely.
